Itinerary


Day 1 Arrival and Tour Bucharest

Fly to Bucharest, the capital of Romania, pick up by car and check in at the hotel. Visit the private residence of former leader ceausescu and explore the historical mark. In the afternoon, visit the folk open-air museum composed of more than 300 historical buildings, and enjoy the style of traditional houses, barns and churches.

Day 2 Tour of Pelaes Castle

In the morning, head to the Carpathian Mountains, visit Pelaes Castle, known as one of the most gorgeous castles in Europe, and stroll through the neighboring 17 th-century ancient monastery. Enjoy lunch inside the castle. In the afternoon, go to the private farm on the top of the hill to experience pure Romanian rural life, and taste farm-style dishes for dinner.

Day 3 Dracula Castle and Brasov
In the morning, visit Bran Castle, the famous “Dracula Castle”, which was built by the Hungarian king in the 14 th century, to explore the origin of vampire legends. In the afternoon, go to Brasov, a historic city surrounded by the Carpathian Mountains, and admire its Gothic, Baroque and Renaissance architecture. If you have enough time, you can climb the medieval city walls with a guide overlooking the magnificent scenery of the valley.

Day 4 Exploring the Transylvanian Countryside

Dive deep into the Transylvanian countryside, populated by Saxons, Romanians and Gypsies. Visit local families, visit traditional handicraft workshops, and learn about the craftsmen’s skills that have lasted for centuries. If the weather is fine, lunch will be enjoyed in the courtyard of the Saxon family. In the afternoon, stroll among the hills and countryside. With the help of the guide, you can have a leisurely conversation with local farmers and feel the simple folk customs.

Day 5 Country Wanderings and Sigishoara
In the morning, you can hike or ride through the forest to another Saxon village, visit local beekeepers and taste a variety of natural honeys. Then go to Sigishoara, a world cultural heritage town, and enjoy lunch in this well-preserved medieval castle with residents still living. Stay that night at a private villa with hundreds of years of history.

Day 6 Craft Experience and Valley Seclusion

Enjoy leisurely time in the morning and lunch in a local family at noon. In the afternoon, I visited the only local craftsman workshop that still insists on making carpets and tablecloths by hand. Tonight, stay in a Saxon village hidden in the valley for hundreds of years. The rooms have been modernized on the basis of preserving the original wooden structure. Dinner will be served in the old barn with a hearty three-course home cuisine.

Day 7 Horseback Exploration and Gypsy Culture

In the morning, a horseback tour of the countryside with a professional guide (about 2 hours, no experience required). In the afternoon, visit a gypsy family to learn about the profound traditions and cultural customs preserved by this unique ethnic group that has long been outside the mainstream society. Return to the hotel in the evening and take a walk among the fields to enjoy the beautiful sunset.

Day 8 Cultural and Historical Tour of Sibiu

Go to Sibiu, known as the “cultural capital of Europe”, and visit the Roman Catholic Church and Brukenthal Palace, which collects national art treasures. In the afternoon, visit the Astra Open-air Folk Museum, where many traditional Romanian buildings are gathered, and traditional markets and festivals are often held. Stay in a private villa in Baroque style that night.

Day 9 End of trip, return trip
