Volkswagen Tiguan audio system reconstruction: an acoustic transformation journey driven by Japan’s Biwei DSP and speakers

The owner of this Volkswagen Tiguan has previously upgraded his car with a sound system centered on Japan’s BEWITH A 50 III tweeter and A 130 III mid-woofer units in other modification shops. However, due to the shortcomings of the previous construction team in the rigor of the installation process, the accuracy of acoustic positioning, and the final system debugging process, the actual hearing experience of the entire system is different from the excellent effect that the top-class Biwei audio should have in the minds of car owners. There is a significant gap, and it has never reached the acoustic level expected by car owners.

First of all, let’s review the owner’s original system configuration framework:

After comprehensively testing and evaluating the original system, we systematically improved and optimized it based on its existing hardware foundation. The diagnosis found that the core problem mainly lies in the basic level of acoustic installation: there is a significant deviation between the inverted mold installation position and angle of the A-pillar tweeter, which fails to comply with the unique acoustic pointing requirements of Biwei speakers, and the data error is large; The basics on which the woofer unit in the door is installed (such as gaskets, seals, etc) are likewise not up to professional standards. These fundamental installation defects seriously restrict the performance of the speaker. Therefore, we must re-construct and refit the above parts according to our own strict technical standards. At the same time, we replaced a complete set of original unknown brand wires with high-quality Barney (brand name) wires, and upgraded the audio processor to Biwei DSP matching the speaker brand to achieve the best fit between signal processing and speaker characteristics. Biwei Audio enjoys a high reputation in the industry for its outstanding sound quality, but its requirements for modification technology, process details and debugging experience are also extremely demanding. Each product series of this brand has its own professional and specific data requirements for installation position, angle, box volume, etc., and it is by no means simple installation to realize its potential. Below is the detailed construction process record of our systematic revision and upgrade of this Tiguan.

 

A-pillar tweeter was thoroughly repositioned and reversed. We removed the original inaccurate installation basis, and recalculated and positioned the installation angle and height of the Biwei A 50 III unit based on its technical characteristics and the best listening phonemes in the car to ensure accurate sound wave pointing.

The A-pillar tweeter mold inversion and cladding process is completed, and the final renderings after the unit is installed. The shape is smooth, integrated with the original car interior, and the acoustic directivity has been fundamentally revised.
