Greenland Vintage Sailing Adventure 9

 

Line highlights:

① Explore the east coast of Greenland on a sailboat built in the last century.

② Visit traditional Inuit villages and learn about local hunting culture.

③ On the 3 rd, landing for hiking activities, tracking musk ox communities and other wild animals, and having a chance to see polar bears.

④ Enjoy the huge glaciers in Greenland during the voyage, swim in the sea, and light a bonfire on the beach in the evening.

⑤ The navigation sea area is mainly fjords, with small waves to slow down seasickness.

⑥ It can extend Iceland’s round-the-island sightseeing or inland hiking routes.

Itinerary

 

Day 1 Fly to Reykjavik

Fly to Reykjavik and pick up to the hotel by special car.

Day 2 Fly to Greenland and take a boat to sea

Take a flight to the east coast of Greenland, board a sailboat, and head to the Inuit village in the fjord, where about 420 aborigines live and make a living hunting narwhals, polar bears and Arctic musk ox. Traditional wooden houses are dotted on coastal reefs, looking out over the Arctic Ocean coastline.

On the 3 rd day of sailing to sea

Cross the Fjord Glacier Region, admire magnificent icebergs along the way, and eventually head to the Inuit settlement where you land for a trekking adventure.

On the 4 th day of sailing to sea

Sail along the fjord coast and admire the majestic basalt mountains, including 2000 m high granite stone walls. Stop at the beach made of red sandstone halfway, and then continue to sail through the sea where giant glaciers and ice floes gather.

Day 5 Land Walking Exploration

Today, landing and exploring on foot, looking for the Arctic musk ox colony. These 2-meter-long and 380-kilogram behemoths often graze on nearby hillsides. We will climb to the top and enjoy lunch while enjoying glacial fjords.

On the 6 th day of sailing to sea

Sail through the most amazing sea area of this trip, with cliffs and mountains on both sides and 2,000-meter-high granite walls. There is no trace around, which makes people feel awe of nature. We also have the opportunity to open the sails, feel the excitement of sailing adventure in the last century, enjoy the cliffs at close range and pass by icebergs.

Day 7 Land Walking Exploration

Today hike along the coastline with views of mountains and glaciers. If you want to challenge the limits, you can swim in the polar waters at 71 degrees north latitude (the water temperature is about 13 degrees) and finally set up a bonfire on the beach and wait for night to fall.

Sailing to sea on the 8 th day

Sail back to the dock. On the last day of voyage, leaning on the wooden rails of the deck, quiet Enjoy island, glacier, and ice floe views.

Fly back to Reykjavik on the 9 th day, ending the trip

End this sailing adventure after breakfast and fly back to Reykjavik. Pick up by car to the hotel, waiting for tomorrow’s return flight or extended Iceland trip.
