The Secret Land of Eastern Mongolia | Reference for an eight-day in-depth tour of grassland and Gobi nomadic migration

Itinerary
Fly to Ulaanbaatar and pick you up to the hotel by special car. If time permits, you can visit the National History Museum of Mongolia by yourself, which systematically shows the development of modern history from prehistoric times (human bones 800,000 years ago), the rise and fall of ancient nomads (Xiongnu, Turks, Uighurs and Khitan) to the rise of the Mongolian Empire in the 13 th century and the 20 th century.

Take a 4-hour ride through the herdsmen’s summer pastures to the Khan Kent Nature Reserve in eastern Mongolia and stay in a mobile yurt camp equipped with comfortable beds. You will be immersed in the vast grassland, immersed in no one’s land, and enjoy delicious meals cooked by your private chef.

The guide loaded yurts, luggage and food onto yak carts to reproduce the migration life of nomads handed down from generation to generation. Then hike into the valley deep in the grassland, surrounded by larch and birch forests.

Explore the pristine landscape around the camp on foot all day, climb to the top overlooking endless dark green forests and rolling grasslands. The Thule River winds across the earth, passes through Lake Baikal, and finally merges into the Arctic Ocean. Return to camp in the evening for a sumptuous dinner.

Take a long-distance off-road vehicle transfer throughout the day (about 7 hours), cross the vast grassland and Gobi Desert, and go to the Akhnalt Nature Reserve. If budget permits, it can be upgraded to exclusive light aircraft connection.

Day 6 Deep into the Gobi: Camel Pack Team and Wilderness Tracking
After entering the Gobi, camels will replace yaks as the main force of transportation. The guide loaded the materials on camel carts and transported them to no-man’s land 13 kilometers away to build a new camp. You can explore the grasslands and semi-desert Gobi by off-road vehicle (you can also choose to hike or ride camels), and track rare wild animals, including more than 600 Siberian argali and vultures, the largest bird of prey in Eurasia.

Explore the Aichenalt Nature Reserve on foot throughout the day (camel or mountain bike rides are also optional). Besides tracking wildlife, the guide will also lead you to visit mysterious archaeological sites, including prehistoric rock paintings, ancient tombs and temple ruins. There are opportunities to meet hospitable nomadic families along the way.
